What to expect on your visit to Henden Ryse

  • PONY TIME: Introduction and play-time with ponies.
  • FARM ACTIVITY TIME: Feeding ducks, sheep, goats, cows and alpacas; Collecting eggs when the chooks are feeling generous; 
  • Thank you and good-bye to ponies and animals.
  • Discussion and reflection on your visit and how you would like to shape your next visit.

There are a few measures that we have in place upon entering the property to help keep you safe:
  • Appropriate footwear (closed toe as you will be getting up close to animals).
  • Appropriate clothing (you will be out in the elements so a warm jacket for the winter a sunhat and sunscreen for the summer).
  • There are some no-go areas which are highlighted on your map.
  • Leaving gates as you find them.
  • No pets under any circumstances.
 
**Only pre-booked participants are allowed on the property due to insurance.  
​Additional observational participants may be added to your booking for a fee 
​ (Support Workers and Bus Drivers are Free)

How you will enjoy yourself

​Booking Details

Individual Booking:
1 ½ hours
PONY TIME: This booking includes one on one pony time. Your pony time will comprise of; an introduction to your pony, how to keep yourself and your pony safe, brushing/grooming, leading and learning about positive reinforcement training. You will have the option of learning more as your skills develop. 
FARM ACTIVITY TIME: This booking also includes farm activity time. Farm activities include collecting eggs, meeting and feeding alpacas, goats, sheep and miniature cows.
This booking can be tailored to focus on areas that may need encouragement.
 
Group Booking:
Ring to discuss numbers and support worker ratio
1 hour to 1 and half hours
PONY TIME: This booking includes some pony time. Your pony time will comprise of; an introduction to your pony, how to keep yourself and your pony safe, brushing/grooming, leading and learning about positive reinforcement training. You will have the option of learning more as your skills develop, with a focus on working both individually and in a team.
FARM ACTIVITY TIME: This booking also includes farm activity time. Farm activities include collecting eggs, meeting and feeding alpacas, sheep, miniature cows and angora goats.
 
Observational participants are welcome and can join in with the interactive farm time for a fee.
 
Small Farm Tour:
$25.00 Adults, $15.00 Children (Tourist Rate)
(Restricted numbers, minimum of four or ring to discuss numbers)
(Limited bookings available for tourist Friday mornings and some Saturdays)
60 minute hobby farm tours are available for bookings for small groups who wish to experience the serenity of rural Tasmania without venturing too far from Hobart CBD. Located just forty minutes from central Hobart, Henden Ryse boasts unique views of Collins Cap, Collins Bonnet and Mount Wellington ranges. Guests will  have the option to get up close with all the Henden Ryse animals which includes pats, grooming and feeding. Bring a camera. *Bookings essential
 
Observational Participants:
Observational participants are those who wish to observe a group or individual program without participating in the hands-on experience with the ponies
but who would like to join in with the farm experience.

And the bits you need to know...


*Please be aware that we have your safety and the safety of our animals as our upmost priority. Due to this, bookings may be cancelled suddenly due to unsuitable weather and unforeseen circumstances. Henden Ryse will endeavour where possible to give participants at least 24 hours’ notice of cancellation, however this will not always be possible.
Cancellations made before a booking will be entitled to reschedule. If a cancellation must be made at any stage once the session has commenced, each participant will be entitled to a full-length reschedule of the same booking,  at no extra cost.
If participants require cancellation of a booking, 48 hours’ notice given to Henden Ryse is required for a full refund. If a cancellation is made under 48 hours, a cancellation fee equivalent to 25%  of the original booking will occur.
* Full payment must be made to Henden Ryse before the commencement of the first scheduled booking.  
​Observational participants are NOT persons who are parents, guardians, support workers, bus drivers or similar. These persons are not required to book as an observational participant.
